Blog Profiles!!

Kia Ora bloggers!! Today at cyber smart, we are learning how to make our blogs more interesting. My Favorite part was probably making the background and choosing the font and its colour. The only thing I found hard was, what I should write as my favorite thing I was looking forward to this year because I was looking forward to many things! Anyway, I hope you enjoy reading my slides!

Mahinga Kai Crusaders.

Kia Ora bloggers,
today I will be sharing a little bit,of the story I have read.

Before Europeans arrived,Maori would usually get their food by going up and down the northern rivers shivering cold.

Karl Russell, considers himself a rich man.He also gets his food in different ways by fishing, growing, hunt, trade and collect. For him it isn't easy being a kai crusader, at night he would go out with spears and try catch slippery tuna with it.

Karl thinks that mahinga kai really means anything that is edible. Karl whanau has hunted, gathered, traded for generations. through out the last month Karl has been picking plums, pears, blackberries, apples and watercress. A friend also has recently just dropped off a sack of Maori potatoes.

From nearby beaches, Karl collectes Kaimoana: sweet-tasting tuaki, kutai, paua and kina. He used to catch cod, tarakihi, kahawai, and elephant fish right off the beach waters. These days its hard to catch a feed because there are large boats that now trawl off the coast.

Several times a year,Karl and his whanua go out hunting in the hills they catch, rabbits, pigs, goats, harves, deer, chamois and thar. They also store hundreds of meats like, bacon, sausages, saveloys and salami.

Thank you for reading,I hope you enjoyed it!
